Why | To give a studio an added value by turning it into a mini-loft with recycled furniture and materials
What | Conception, realization and site supervision
Where | City centre, Lille, France
With | COLOKi
Who | For Saskia Huizinga

Thanks to many universities and schools, Lille is one of the biggest students’ city in France. Therefore the city offers a lot of small basic studios. But recently several short trainings for professionals and graduated developed too. Those older students or starters have problems to find apartments that suit their needs. There is a growing demand in central, furnished and classy small apartments for short term stay.

So I transformed a small empty studio situated not far away from international station Lille Europe into a functional, smart and comfortable mini-loft. Waste material and second hand’s pieces of furniture have been used as much as it was possible. Some walls have been taken down and mirror doors have been set to give the impression of space. Specialized corners have been created for every daily function:  kitchen, bedroom, office, living room, eating room. The bedroom is separated from the main space by curtains. Walls are optimally used for storage.
