Why | To support Design Team & Council to review the Estate Regeneration Masterplan
What | Public consultation and development planning
Where | South Kilburn, London, UK (40 ha)
Who | For the London Borough of Brent

The regeneration of South Kilburn is a fifteen-year programme that is approximately half way through. It aims to transform the area into a sustainable and mixed neighbourhood and create a real sense of place and belonging.

The comprehensive strategic Masterplan Review involved reviewing current phasing proposals, timelines, public realm and much more to ensure that the revised Masterplan addresses current community needs, programme requirements, new planning policies and latest standards set by institutions such as the GLA (Greater London Authority).

We have designed a 3-phase consultation process where people’s knowledge, ideas and feedbacks have informed a comprehensive common vision, strategic principles and the final Masterplan. Consultations tools included pop-up events with a branded cargo-bike, an interactive info-box at local festivals, participatory boards at three drop-in exhibitions, colourful onsite consultation stations with holders for newsletters and feedback forms, online surveys and branded e-newsletters. The process leads to the production of a SPD (Supplementary Planning Document) that will give guidance to all developments in South Kilburn.

We reported fortnightly to The Council and the Urban Design Team that have been working on a number of feasibility studies over the last few months, whilst reviewing feedback from the community.
