V-MARKT, New Ecodistrict

The Veemarkt was a place where cattle was sold and then the biggest car market in Europe. It is located not far from the centre of Utrecht and is also very close to the countryside. That is why it has been decided to move the Veemarkt and to build a new eco-neighbourhood here.

After having analysed the district and shared relevant documentation and findings with stakeholders, we have co-developed a participation strategy with the city of Utrecht.

Bottrop is a small city of the Ruhr area with a relative dynamic town centre. But there are lots of vacant and cheap bargain shops, a declining and aging population, and unsafe peripheral car traffic. What the centre needs is more green public spaces, a new attractive inner city living concept and activities for the youth.

Hanzeland is a beloved but aging leisure water park without prestige. Marinas, camps, hotels, water sport facilities, just like any other lake in the region. But in the middle of the lake, there is a free peninsula. What a potential! Maybe something to give an impulse to the whole lake and surroundings? Arcadis, Property owner uit®waarde and property developer Loostad are convinced about the fact that a new place created around a sauna complex can develop.
